Our Process

How We Work

Step 1: Enquiry & Initial Estimate

Once you have enquiried through our website, one of our friendly team will give you a call within 24 hours to discuss your new gate scheme. Then, we will send you an Initial Estimate to consider, giving you an accurate idea of how much your new gates may cost.

Step 2: Site Survey & Quotation

If you are happy with our Initial Estimate, we will then carry out a Site Survey. This will involve a site visit to your home to take detailed measurements and assess the site. Once this is complete, we will send you a formal quotation for your new gate scheme.

Step 3: Manufacturing

If you are happy to go ahead, we will then arrange manufacturing of your new gates. All of our gates are made to order, entirely bespoke to your entrance.

Step 4: Installation & Handover

Once your gates have been manufactured we will then arrange installation. Installation usually takes between 1-5 days, depending on the system. Once this is complete, we will carry out a handover with you to demonstrate the new system and it’s features.

Step 5: Ongoing Maintenance

We are on hand to provide any ongoing maintenance & repairs from the point of installation. We strongly recommend that automated gates are serviced every 12 months to ensure maximum efficiency and smooth running.

FAQs

How much do automated gates cost?

The cost of automated gates varies from project to project, depending on what material, style of gate and type of automation system you choose. Our Hardwood Gates are at the top end of the price range, followed by iron and aluminium gates.

Generally, you can expect prices to start from £7,500 + vat for iron or aluminium automated gates, and from £9,500 + vat for our hardwood gates.

If you’d like to get a better idea on how much your gates might cost, please phone our team today for a free, no obligation Initial Estimate.

The type of automation system required will depend on the gate location. Most driveways will have swing gates, which open inwards or in some cases, outwards. We offer above-ground or below-ground swing gate options. If you are more restricted on space, of have a sloping driveway, a sliding gate may be your best bet.

Swing Gates
Underground

Our underground automation systems use motors which sit flush with your driveway surface, then the motor arm connects onto the bottom foot of the gate to swing the gates open and closed. These motors are virtually hidden and therefore very discreet and quiet. If aesthics are very important to you, an underground kit may be your best choice.

Above-Ground

Our above ground swing gate automation system use motor arms (also known as RAMS) which connect onto the main body of the gates and swing open and closed. Above-ground motors can be a more cost effective option in comparison to underground motors, as there is less installation time involved. They are also easier to maintain due to the components being above ground rather than below.

Sliding Gates

If you have a sloping driveway which means swing gates are not possible, then we would recommend a sliding gate. Our sliding gates use an above ground track rail and motor to slide the gate to one side. This means ample space to one side of the gate is required, this is usually along a boundary wall/hedge, for example. This also requires a level threshold for the track rail.

Our installations generally take between 1-5 days, depending on the complexity of the system.

Gate manufacturing lead times can range anywhere from 8-12 weeks.

Yes! All of the gates you see on our website can be installed as manually opening gates too.

Most gates will fall into the catergory of ‘Permitted Development’, however whether or not you require Planning Permission for gates is determined by the gate’s height, location, and impact on the surrounding area.

You will need Planning Permission if:

  • Your gates are over 2m tall, or over 1m tall next to a highway (road)
  • If your property is listed or in a conservation area.
  • If the gates would form a boundary with a neighbouring listed building.

You do not need Planning Permission if:

  • You’re replacing an existing gate with one the same height or less.
  • The gates open out onto a private or unadopted road
Health & Safety

Gate Safety

Gate safety is our top priority when designing & installing automated gates. All automatic gate systems by LAW must be installed in compliance with the Machinery Directive MD2006/42/EC and supporting standards as highlighted by recent safety advisories from the Health & Safety Executive. Our gate engineers will recommend any additional safety devices that your new gated entrance will require, either compulsory or recommended.
